Terms of Use

Last updated:

These terms govern your use of photocalcs.uk (the “site”). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What the site provides

The site is a free library of photography and videography calculators plus reference content — covering depth of field and hyperfocal distance, exposure and reciprocity, focal length and crop factor, print sizes and resolution, file and storage sizes, time-lapse and video settings. It is provided “as is” without account registration or payment.

2. Accuracy and your own kit

Calculators are estimates based on standard optical formulae and the focal length, aperture, sensor format and figures you enter. Real-world results depend on your specific lens and its true focal length and aperture, your sensor and chosen circle of confusion, focus accuracy, diffraction and how critically the image is viewed or enlarged. Depth-of-field and hyperfocal figures in particular are guides — always confirm critical focus on the actual scene and review your shots at full magnification.

Treat every result as a starting point, not a guarantee. Circle-of-confusion choice, viewing distance and print size all shift the numbers, so bracket focus and exposure where it matters. We round and estimate conservatively, but we cannot account for every lens, sensor or shooting situation, so verify settings against your own camera and a test frame before you rely on them.
